aww that photo with the little girls is EVERYTHING π₯Ή and omg one of them being excited about meeting a real author??!! that is a dream come true, so cute β€οΈ
Katabasis was sooo good! Also I agree that sometimes our writing process canβt be consistent with all the different stuff going on our lives - but messy is better than nothing! My writing process is so messy but right now but Iβm still writing and thatβs what matters!
Ofc!!! And itβs so true - we are so quick to punish/be mad at ourselves for βbeing distractedβ or putting off creativity but also likeβ¦.. so important to remember that all the little important experiences were distracting ourself with are often whatβs getting us the best inspo in the first place π₯°

Have you read anything else by R. F. Kuang? This was my favorite book by her!
Whatβs your current writing process look like right now?
Iβve read Yellowface and am currently reading Babel, and itβs good, but Katabasis is def my favorite!
love all the little images you integrated in throughout -- made me feel like i took a walk alongside you the past couple weeks!!! π the word vomit part is great, and don't think of yourself as any less of a writer just because you decide to "put if off" to do something else. oftentimes, the breaks and the little things (decorating for halloween, romanticizing that cup of coffee,) are exactly what we need to focus on instead -- and in turn, it makes the writing richer when we get back to it π©·.
πππ this is the sweetest comment ever! Thank you so much for taking the time to read my article and let me know what you enjoyed about it.
I love the way you reframed the βother tasksβ as necessary to stay creatively focused and rich with experience π€

Yes, completely agree <3
Loved reading this. Thank you for sharing. Thereβs so much passion and meaning in your words.
βDiscipline is much less about having an unshakable will to succeed and more about having the unflinching courage to try again.β
I love how you framed this. Keep writing! There are people out there like me who would love to read work like this.
This is so kind of you to say π₯Ή Iβm so glad a piece of my writing resonated and Iβll for sure keep writing <3
